Tear Trough Correction Using Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Filler : Superficial Technique (Video)

While causes of dark circles can be multi-factorial, they are often the result of tear trough deformity.

Tear trough deformity is a major concern in many individuals seeking eye rejuvenation and is a natural consequence of the anatomic attachments of the periorbital tissues; usually characterised by a sunken appearance of the globe that results in the casting of a dark shadow over the lower eyelid, giving patients a fatigued appearance.

Such deformity can be confirmed and shown to patients using flash photography as they disappear when photographed.

Tear Trough Correction Using Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Filler

There are various techniques in correcting tear trough deformity, and in a 2006 multi-specialty consensus recommendation article, tear trough correction is recognised as one of the most challenging areas to treat with hyaluronic acid (HA).

The correction of tear trough deformity using non-surgical techniques with HA filler is less invasive and poses minimal downtime due to swelling and bruising. Despite so, care must still be taken when implementing HA filler correction to avoid injection through the orbital septum and accentuating pseudoherniation.

This week, our IFAAS faculty demonstrates the exclusive technique on Tear Trough Correction Using Decanted Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Filler with Superficial Technique which reduces the risk of going through any nearby vessels while covering visible veins.

Hope you have enjoyed the article & video! Stay tuned for our future posts about more techniques related to advanced aesthetic injectables!
